BENEFIT |
WHICH MEANS.... |
| Compact design
Echidna machines are light and extremely compact
^top |
Very high power to weight ratio. |
The light weight means less strain on the host machine and greater manoeuvrability.
The stump grinder can be operated in tight spaces |
| Compatibility with large range of carriers
All Echidna saws come standard with a flange type mounting arrangement onto which a large variety of head-brackets can be mounted.
^top |
Adapting the saw to a different host machine is a matter of a quick change of a simple bolt-on head bracket. |
Excavator, back-hoe or skid-steer mounted
Great reach from one position
Gentle on surrounding terrain, can access places impossible to reach with tractor or self driven stump grinders |
| Excavator, back-hoe or skid-steer mounted |
always in the operator's sight |
no need for a spotter, much lower operating cost |
| Controller feed depth |
No-stalling, no restarts |
Continuous fast work flow, very high productivity and hence low operatin cost |
| High rotating speed |
Very high cutting efficiency for hard and soft wood |
No need to change the cutting heads, lower operating cost |
| Rotating pick-up device |
can be rotated while on the machine in 90 degree increments for cutting left, right and fron parallel |
Greater positioning versatility, no need to re-grip, i.e. higher productivity |
| Unique bearing seal design
Bearing seal design, virtually service and fail free (patented)
Echidna stump grinders (and other equipment) come standard with an active seal arrangement which, |
Close to perfect seal against grit and cutting debris which, when correctly maintained, provides indefinite protection of the bearings and associated components. |
No maintenance costs, no break-downs
Most other saws come with a passive dust seal (cat-eye etc). Preventive maintenance of such seals is practically impossible. In case of failure of such a seal severe damage is done almost instantly to the spindle bearings. |
|
Bi-directional cutting blade
Echidna stump grinders can be connected to the auger excavator circuit and spin in clockwise or anticlockwise direction as selected by the operator at any time.
Clockwise or anti-clockwise cutting drums can be mounted without the need to change hoses or hydraulics.
Echidna stump grinders are the only ones in the market place that have this feature.
|
Cutting drum can be spun in reverse direction on a sharpening stone (eg concrete slab) to re-sharpen teeth |
Both side cutting is possible.
This is a great advantage in situation, when one needs to control the direction in which the cutting debris is thrown off the blade. For example, the debris will fly in the direction away from the operator irrespective of on what side of the dipper/boom the grinder is held.
Self sharpening ability. |
| Instant rapid brake
When the operator releases the GO button or pedal lever, the Echidna stump grinder comes to an instant halt.
Echidna stump grinders are the only ones in the market place that have this feature. |
Stops almost instantly when power is removed |
This is a very important safety feature and an essential OH&S requirement. |
| Broad array of accessories |
Ability to expand with a growing job |
More versatility and productivity |
Rotating stand
Echidna stump grinders of all sizes come on rotating stand |
Transport security and that allow the saw to rotate |
Walking the excavator to re-grip to swap the cutting side becomes unnecessary. This can increase productivity, and make it possible to work in more confined spaces |
No case drain
|
Echidna stump grinders (sizes D2, D3, D4) do not need a case drain line to be fitted to the carrier. |
This makes the installation simpler, cheaper and makes it possible to carry the saw on various excavators. |
